In 2025, each month will feature a new focus. Sessions are held on the second Sunday of every month.
PRIVATE SESSIONS:
As an extension of my artistic practice I've been working as a vocal coach and voice workshop facilitator since 2015. I am on a quest to help people to find freedom in their voice so that they can express their individuality and grow in community. I can describe myself as a gentle and playful voice explorer who likes to take people on mind and heart expanding journeys.
I currently have availability for 1-2-1 vocal coaching sessions, whether you’d like to study singing, looping or the art of vocal improvisation. You might also be called to explore your voice for wellbeing and self-discovery and I can help you with that. The sessions are always a combination of technique (vocal technique, navigating the loop station, vocal improv methods) and playful vocal explorationandsong work. I work with a wide range of people from complete beginners to experienced singers, songwriters and improvisers who would like to develop their unique voice and take things to the next level. Please get in touch via the contact form on this website if you are getting excited by the sound of this and I'll get back to you. 1-2-1's will be always be tailored to your specific needs, don't hesitate to ask me if you have any questions.
Here is a bit more info about my background as a vocal coach:
I studied with exceptional voice teachers such as Bobby McFerrin and Rhiannon in New York; Mike King, Jenni Roditi and Michael Ormiston in London; Timur Selcuk in Istanbul and Bat-Oyun in Mongolia. On my journey of self development I've studied dance, painting, poetry, shamanism, yoga and creative writing.
As a voice workshop facilitator, I held sessions in community centres (Passing Clouds, The Hive), hospices (St. Joseph's Hospice), companies (Designit), festivals (Green Gathering, Vibrations of Anatolia) and yoga centres (MahaDevi Centre, Githa Yoga). I am also a co-founder of the UK Vocal Improv Collective, which organizes the annual UK Vocal Improv Festival.
Please get in touch for 1-2-1's, private group sessions, all tailored to your specific needs, delivered through Zoom or in person in North London.
TESTIMONIALS:
"Uran is a great and gifted voice teacher with a wonderful way of working with people that opens up their confidence." Lilli
“So wonderfully, delightfully brilliant. Recently at a jam session I found myself on the mic and not giving a f**k what anyone thought, all thanks to Uran's workshops.” Louise
“A totally beautiful, heart-opening, playful and joyful journey into the world of voice improvisation, led by the exquisitely creative Uran Apak. Uran’s workshop definitely supported and encouraged me to let go and really opened me up. I think that was in large part due to how Uran approaches this work and also who he is as a person; he not only creates supportive conditions through instruction but also embodies the very thing he is trying to evoke: a deep ease and openness. This really created the conditions for people to drop deeply into themselves and find their authentic voice.” Jody
"I thoroughly enjoyed my sessions with Uran. It was exactly what I was looking for and his guidance was both fun and adequately challenging. Just how I like it! Thank you Uran for helping me unlock my creativity in a new and exciting way." Nessi
"That was a really enjoyable workshop, I loved it. Thank you Uran, you managed to make this workshop gentle but fun, safe but interesting, grounding and magical. I was smiling all the way home. I've finally found my voice & now there's no stopping me! I'll be back !!" Jane
"I always loved singing but I never thought I could sing properly. I've been going to weekly sessions held by Uran Apak to explore my singing potential and I feel I've made quite a progress, woohoo! It feels a lot better than before, I can hit and maintain some notes like I never thought I could, but I equally feel how much more I can improve. Lovely space, lovely vibes, my voice is growing, my confidence is soaring <3 " Bristena
"First time in weeks I feel happy and connected! Thanks for the cheerful evening." Eliott
"For anybody who wants to be happier, this is the right thing to join ;)" Michele
"Uran is a versatile, multi-skilled voice tutor. He creates a warm, welcoming atmosphere to gain participants' trust and build intimacy, allowing everyone to feel comfortable and encouraged to share their feelings through voice. His workshop unlocks the voice's potential and releases inner energy, leading to an extraordinary private, yet shared experience. I would highly recommend Uran as a workshop facilitator. A very rare, special experience, truly recommended." Agata
"I felt quite comfortable to come as a beginner. I caught myself humming and singing many times this week. A new experience ! The session has set my voice free! : ) Thank you again and keep me posted please, I'm up for more!" Jasminka
"It was a fun, interesting and relaxing evening with a good mix of different activities. I would recommend it." Kathy
"I have learned to appreciate the variety of sounds coming from the other people and how intimate, fragile and beautiful they are. Also I've learned that by listening and repeating the sounds a person makes, you can feel a very deep connection, quite difficult to express with other means of communication as it's immediate, intimate and unique to the person. In a few words, the human voice is one of the most powerful tools !" Katia
