Would you like to experience vocal improvisation in a safe and playful space?
Would you like to enjoy all this while having fun with easy-to-follow games and exercises?
If so, you’ve found exactly what you’re looking for!
What is Voice DNA?
Voice DNA is a journey of transformation through voice—not to sing well, but to feel free, alive, and deeply connected to yourself and others. It’s where sound becomes play, liberation, healing, and community.
It’s not just a voice workshop—it’s a radical, playful, and embodied journey to reclaim your true voice, shed old patterns, connect with others, and celebrate aliveness through sound and movement. Rooted in improvisation, vulnerability, and ritual, this program is for anyone longing to feel free, connected, and creatively alive.
Sessions take place as monthly 2-hour voice journeys, each with a different focus such as Exploration, Collaboration, Transformation, and Celebration. You can attend individually, and together they form a pathway of creative liberation.
Led by Uran Apak—artist, musician, vocal coach, improvisational facilitator, and co-founder of the UK Vocal Improv Festival—Voice DNA has been running since 2015, helping hundreds of people experience freedom through vocal exploration.
If you're curious what the sessions entail, here is an example:

- Warming up your voice
- Breathing exercises
- Toning with the Shruti Box
- Vocal improv games
- Voice and movement journey

FAQ
What do you mean by Voice DNA?
Do we all have an essentially unique voice? How is it different from others, and how can we feel that we are sounding our true voice? Can we experience freedom through it? How can we relate to other voices while staying centred in our authentic one? When does our voice feel good and safe in our bodies?
Voice DNA is a playful, experiential space to go on a journey with your voice through these questions.
Who is it for?
I want to join but I’m scared!
Sharing your voice—especially in ways beyond everyday speaking—is a vulnerable process. It’s completely normal to feel scared. With a little courage to experiment and make mistakes, the experience can be highly rewarding, boosting confidence, serotonin levels, and playful spontaneity. Rest assured: this is a safe, non-judgmental space with step-by-step guidance and the option to skip or observe exercises at any time.

TESTIMONIALS:
"Uran created a wonderfully honest, trusting and exploratory environment. The workshop helped me play with my voice in new ways and my ears were in awe of the tapestry of sound we created altogether."
Dear Wife (singer and musician)
“A totally beautiful, heart-opening, playful and joyful journey into the world of voice improvisation, led by the exquisitely creative Uran Apak. Uran’s workshop definitely supported and encouraged me to let go and really opened me up. I think that was in large part due to how Uran approaches this work and also who he is as a person; he not only creates supportive conditions through instruction but also embodies the very thing he is trying to evoke: a deep ease and openness. This really created the conditions for people to drop deeply into themselves and find their authentic voice.”
Jody
“So wonderfully, delightfully brilliant. Recently at a jam session I found myself on the mic and not giving a f**k what anyone thought, all thanks to Uran's sessions.”
Louise
"I thoroughly enjoyed my sessions with Uran. It was exactly what I was looking for and his guidance was both fun and adequately challenging. Just how I like it! Thank you Uran for helping me unlock my creativity in a new and exciting way."
